In our eyes one of the many ways to obtain power is by learning lessons and going through things in your life to gain authority. How is someone going to be powerful if they don’t have any experience with it? Experience is the key to wisdom, and people with wisdom are the people who have authority. For example, the United States Congress, Police Officers and Firefighters all have power. They have power because we trust them to protect us. They earned our trust and worked hard to be at the position they’re at now, so we hope that they make the best decisions to keep us safe. Since they have power, they also have more of a chance to also put us in danger. Teachers and Deans are very important to students as they grow up. They can change your life for the positive and that's how they gain power. We interviewed Ms. Shea, a social studies teacher and Mr. Ivey, the new dean of castle view. They believed that gaining power would come from past experiences. They explained to us that having good relationships with deans, students and other teachers is what makes a good leader. Mr. Ivey is new to our school this year, and he was very honored to be helping out students as a powerful role model. He was a teacher at Legend High School for almost 10 years, and he learned that the only way to have power is to gain respect from coworkers and students. He realized that people should be open and honest about the decisions they make. He set rules for his students at Legend, and even though some didn’t follow the rules, it taught him what he needed to do to change, resulting him in being a better influencer. Ms. Shea is a very caring person, and wants her students to make their own decisions because she can’t control anyone but herself. Mr. Ivey is letting students and coworkers know that he will be here through all the negatives and positives at Castle View. No, they might not be the richest people in the world, have the most followers on social media, or have the most victory royales, but in the end, none of that matters. Both of our examples are caring and want the best for everyone, therefore they are obtaining power through trust and respect.
Telegraph
1. Why did the telegraph come about? The telegraph came about so there was a newer and easier way to communicate.
2. What was the intent of the telegraph? To help communicate through long-distance communication.
3. How has it grown and changed? Telegraphs would take up to 5 days to transfer. Now, communication is much more innovative and quick. Texting and calling is the new way for telegraphs. It is much more easier to communicate long-distance now then it used to be.
4. Where is it now? There is no such thing of a telegraph anymore. Instead people use telephones to talk to each other, write text messages to get a point across quickly, or write letters that are sent through mail. 5. Overall, was it successful? Overall, yes. Though it took a long time, it was the start of the great communication we have today. We wouldn’t be where we are at with communication without the telegraph.
